About PrepReady

What PrepReady is, who it is for, where the readiness index data comes from and how our guides are made.

PrepReady helps households prepare for emergencies calmly, without panic. We combine official data into one readable index, pick the news that actually matters and write guides you can follow in an ordinary flat on an ordinary weekend.

Who it is for

For people who keep hearing about drones, blackouts, floods and cyberattacks and simply want to know what to do. You do not need to be a survivalist or buy expensive gear. Most preparation is things you already own and a plan you agree with the people you live with.

The Readiness Index

Every day we calculate a score from 0 to 100 from six components: armed conflict, radiation risk, the power grid, disasters and weather, public health and cyber threats. The global index uses international public sources such as GDACS and ECDC, plus global news coverage. Weights and sources are public, and every level of the index comes with concrete steps to take. The full method is on the methodology page.

The index is an educational tool. In an emergency, official alerts and instructions from emergency services always come first.

How our guides are made

  • We build on official guidance, including Ready.gov and European civil-protection agencies.
  • Every guide shows its last review date and its sources.
  • Only gear we have checked goes into our rankings, and every test explains how we measured.
  • We are looking for advisors with rescue and civil-protection experience to review our guides.
